My love of Photography is becoming the passion
Same thing happened to me. I have practically stopped shooting video and I am taking stills almost every day.
I suffer with developing my shots in Lightroom and Photoshop more than I ever did with my video. Video moves, whereas the photo just sits there and taunts me.
For example. I shot this image at a concert. We got seated in the front row, which was way too close to get good shots of the orchestra or the choir. But I really liked the colors I was seeing and the reflections in the bell of the trombone. It was a Christmas concert at EPCOT with Whoopi Goldberg narrating the Christmas Story. Therefore, the different colored spotlights made it seem all the more festive.
So here is the problem. Do I leave it the way I shot it, or do I color correct it? It is obviously too red, but that is because the lights were red. I think I am going to have it printed on metal. I don't normally print my shots, but I think I really like this one. There are so many different ways to develop it, I have been driving myself nuts with it.
I would like to eventually create a photo book with closeups of different instruments collected over time. I was a musician of sorts in my youth, playing several instruments, but none of them particularly well. All I have left are a couple of guitars.
This is how it came out of the camera. I am tempted just to pretty much leave it this way. Maybe some dodging and burning if I can accentuate the reflections of the metal. What do you think?
