Well, I verified that I was using an old version version 8 and the newest version that came out last month is version 14. Using the new version did not fix the problem. I even rebooted the system in case it needed to know a new folder location. So I guess for now unchecking opencl is what will do.
I still could have another issue since I have been experiencing freezes and a bluescreen from time to time. Though thanks to the folks on microsofts forum I now have all my updates installed correctly. I had a couple that refused to install.
So the possibility of a bad video card, motherboard, and/or hard drive is still on the table.
