Apparently it's your graphics driver. I have a few laptops. One is a new E7740 with Intel 4400 graphics. It's not my primary editing system and IT ordered it without the Nvidia option, (not sure how I missed that one). However, it works amazing well, the below image is a fairly busy edit with AE comps. So it is possible to realize a decent experience with the Intel graphics. You didn't mention the brand of your laptop. Are you using the laptop manufactures version of the driver, or intels (downloaded from Intels website)? Sometimes that makes a difference. What do you lose in terms of other features/performance if you just go with a generic MS Driver (as you've already tested and found working when you uninstalled it)?
