I'm trying to edit podcast episodes in which I have multiple speakers talking at different volumes, as well as individual speakers that speak at different volumes throughout the course of the episode (~60 minutes). Using normalize over the course of the whole episode doesn't work very well, since if one speaker is quiet, but laughs loudly at one point in the track, normalizing seems to be based on just the loudest volume. I've been going through and trying to select individual sections of audio and normalizing to that, but that's tedious and leads to some jarring volume changes.
Is there a function that will generally bring all the audio up to a particular volume but ignore large peaks?
